Top 10 Dwayne Johnson Movies

Here’s our roundup of the Top 10 Dwayne Johnson movies of all time (as of March 2020). They’re presented in alphabetical order.

Central Intelligence

The first one on our list is a comedy. Teaming up with Kevin Hart, one of the funniest standup comedians of our time, Dwayne Johnson’s role in Central Intelligence is that of a secret agent gone rogue.

There are lots of twists and surprises, and the movie does a great job creating comedic moments.

If you want to watch a funny Dwayne Johnson movie, you can’t really do better than Central Intelligence.

Hercules

Who hasn’t heard of Hercules? Famed as the strongest human in Greek mythology, he has inspired many movies and a whole lot of TV shows. So when The Rock took on the role, many expected the movie to follow the same narrative. But this movie will surprise you if you are thinking that it is the same as the other Hercules movies.

There is a major difference in the narrative, something that makes this quite different from the rest of the Hercules movies and the original myth. But that doesn’t make this any less fun to watch though.

If you’re a fan of mythology and want an action-packed fun movie to watch, this will do the job nicely.

Hobbs & Shaw

Talking about action-packed, few movies match that description better than Hobbs & Shaw. A spin-off of the Fast and the Furious franchise, this movie sees Hobbs and Shaw on a mission of their own.

The mission? To save the world and the fate of humanity (obviously).

It introduces a new character in the form of Shaw’s sister (played by Vanessa Kirby), and Idris Elba plays the role of the bad guy (a.k.a the supervillain!).

It is star-packed, and the action is non-stop! A great one for the weekend.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

Jumanji has been a classic in the fantasy movie genre for many years. If you love fantasy movies, it is highly unlikely that you have not seen it. This “revamp” of the classic movie, starring Dwayne Johnson, isn’t quite the same movie though.

The original idea of the magical board game is still there, but the storyline is very different. Without giving away too much, The Rock plays an alter ego…

Piqued your interest? Cool, check out the movie.

Moana

The Rock doesn’t really do many animation movies, but he clearly is just as good at those as he is in non-animated movies, and Moana demonstrates that well.

Voicing the role of a demigod, Maui, his character guides Moana through her epic journey full of trials, and legendary monsters.

It’s a heartwarming Disney animation movie, a great one to watch with the young ones. The music in it is pretty good too.

Pain and Gain

This is possibly one of Dwayne Johnson’s best movie ever. Starring alongside Mark Wahlberg as a bodybuilder addicted to drugs, he gives a stellar performance in a movie about good intentions leading down very bad roads when consequences are not thought through.

There are comedy, action, and drama aplenty. Superbly entertaining movie. If you are a fan of Dwayne Johnson, this is a must-watch.

Rampage

Before we talk about this movie, let us ask you two questions – did you enjoy King Kong and Godzilla? Do you like monster movies? If your answer is yes to at least one of those 2 questions, then you will love this one.

Think about King Kong, but albino, and you start to get a picture of what this movie is about. There is more, of course.

Packed full of King Kong and Godzilla style monsters, this is a must-watch movie for all monster movie fans.

San Andreas

This Dwayne Johnson movie is more of a disaster movie, based on the very real San Andreas fault line. In case you do not know about it, the San Andreas fault line is the tectonic border where 2 massive tectonic plates meet.

The movie creates a fictional “what if” case, based on what can happen if those plates collide. As far as disaster movies go, this one is really well made.

It is nail-bitingly gripping, and Dwayne Johnson really makes his mark as a serious actor in this. A must-watch for all Dwayne Johnson fans.

Skyscraper

Another movie where The Rock plays a serious role, Skyscraper is a disaster movie/family drama centered around Dwayne Johnson’s character trying to save his family, and his livelihood.

A fast-paced movie, it starts a bit slow but really gets into the thick of it before you know it. It has great action sequences and nail-biting stunts.

Gripping movie.

The Fate of the Furious

Who hasn’t heard of the Fast and the Furious movies right? Well, this is one in the series featuring Dwayne Johnson. He plays the role of a super-cop, Hobbs, trying to stop Dom from, well, doing bad stuff. Yes, Dom gets up to no good in this sequel of the movie (partial-spoiler alert!).

With a new villain behind the shadows, and great action (as usual), this is yet another fun, and watchable, action movie (and not just because, dare I say, The Rock is in it).
